07Questions

What Indian travellers ask about cost

How much does a 7-day Japan trip cost from India?

Indicatively ₹1.1–1.5 lakh per person on a budget plan, ₹1.9–2.6 lakh mid-range and ₹4.5 lakh upward at luxury level, including return flights from Mumbai or Delhi, hotels, rail, entries and food. Flights and hotels swing the total more than anything else you do on the ground.

Is Japan more expensive than Europe for Indian travellers?

Day-to-day Japan is usually cheaper than Western Europe: trains are exact, konbini and set-lunch meals are genuinely good for ¥600–1,200, and there is no tipping. The two costs that hurt are long-haul flights and central Tokyo hotel rates in peak weeks.

How much cash should I carry from India?

Carry ¥15,000–30,000 in cash for temples, small ramen shops, markets and rural buses; cards cover most of urban Japan. 7-Eleven ATMs reliably accept Indian international debit cards, so top up rather than converting your entire budget in advance.

Do I need a Japan Rail Pass?

Only if you cross the country. A Tokyo-plus-Kansai trip with one Shinkansen leg each way is usually cheaper on individual tickets; a 10-day plan touching Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka and Hiroshima tips in favour of the pass. Price both against your own days in the route planner before buying.

What does vegetarian food cost per day in Japan?

Budget ¥3,000–5,000 a day eating well as a vegetarian: konbini breakfast, a set lunch, and a dedicated vegan or vegetarian dinner. Specialist vegan ramen and plant-based restaurants sit at ¥1,200–2,200 a bowl or plate.

When is Japan cheapest to fly to from India?

Fares are usually softest in late January to early March and mid-April to June outside the cherry-blossom peak. Avoid Golden Week (end of April to early May), Obon in mid-August and the New Year window, when both fares and hotel rates jump.
