Tokyo Essential · 7 days

Tokyo deep, one landscape day. The right first trip.

METRO + TAXI · Smart Mix in Tokyo + Kanto

Fast reserved trains for the long legs, taxis only where they kill a slow connection (this is exactly how the Hakone and Nara flows were engineered). Best value-per-hour in Japan.

Normal pace. The plan as written — every stop, in the order it was designed.

7 DAYS · 34 STOPS · 9h 33m MOVING · ¥26,105 TRANSIT (≈₹15,663) · METRO + TAXI

Getting around Tokyo + Kanto: Everything here runs on rails. Tap in with a Suica or Pasmo and keep taxis for the last train hour.

Then treat your airport as its own problem. Haneda is ≈18 km out: Keikyu or the Monorail put you central in 30–55 min for ¥330–680. Narita is ≈60 km out in Chiba: the Narita Express runs to Tokyo Station in 55–95 min for ≈¥3,070, the Keisei Skyliner reaches Nippori/Ueno in 41–75 min for ≈¥2,580, and the Limousine Bus takes 75–140 min to hotel doors. Load ¥5,000 on the IC card and no small movement becomes a decision again.

VISA: APPLY THROUGH THE OFFICIAL CHANNEL

Indian passport holders need a visa before flying. Apply either on Japan's official eVisa portal (evisa.mofa.go.jp) or through the application centre appointed by the Embassy/Consulates of Japan in India — those are the actual channels. Authorised travel agents can prepare and submit the paperwork and often sell rail passes too, but they are a convenience, not the issuing authority. On pass prices: a 7-day ordinary Japan Rail Pass is ¥50,000 (Green ¥70,000) for purchases up to 30 Sep 2026, rising to ¥53,000 / ¥74,000 from 1 Oct 2026 — the price that applies is the one on your purchase date. Then choose the property. First-timers: Peninsula. Calm and service: Palace Hotel. Splurge and scene: Janu, Azabudai Hills.

Check today's official Odakyu highway-bus timetable for Gotemba → Busta Shinjuku on your travel date and reserve a seat — weekday, weekend and seasonal timetables all differ, and the last departure is earlier than most people expect. Budget 1 h 40 min to 2 h 20 min for the ride, more on a Sunday evening. Sit left if selectable for a final Fuji angle. Do not add another big plan this evening.

Kaminarimon gate → Nakamise Street (open from ~9:00; browse on the way in, buy on the way out) → the main hall and five-storey pagoda. Draw an omikuji fortune (¥100); a bad one gets tied to the rack, not carried home. Tourist Tokyo is around Senso-ji; everyday Tokyo is two streets away.

    DON'T EAT WHILE WALKING

Nakamise's snacks (ningyo-yaki, senbei, melonpan) are eaten standing at the stall, not strolling. Eating while walking reads as rude in most of Japan — and there are almost no public bins, so you carry wrappers until you find one (usually at a konbini).

    Kappabashi Kitchen Town

The professional kitchen street: hand-forged knives (they'll engrave while you wait — a genuinely great gift), fake-food models, ceramics by the crate. Most shops shut by 17:00 and several close Sundays — that's why it's a mid-morning stop.
